Recent events have heightened sexual abuse awareness in Illinois, especially abuse perpetrated by people representing institutions such as schools and churches. If you have suffered this kind of abuse, we may be able to help you obtain compensation from those responsible for your suffering.
In January 2019, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan made serious allegations regarding priests accused of sexual abuse throughout the state. She said the Church had substantially underreported allegations of child sexual abuse committed by clergy. Madigan said her investigators had uncovered at least 500 accusations, compared to only 185 cases the Church admitted knowing about.
Meanwhile, survivors of this type of abuse were launching their own effort in order to expose the priests they believe are being protected, or are being hidden, by the Catholic Church in Illinois.

While cases of sexual abuse involving priests have dominated the headlines in Illinois, there are many other examples of people in places of authority committing sexual crimes.
In January 2019, for example, the Evanston Board of Education approved payment of a $100,000 settlement for four former students who accused a former drama teacher of sexual abuse. The teacher worked at Evanston Township High School from 1965 to 1999.
That same month, a teacher at Reed-Custer High School in Will County was charged with having sexual relations with a 14-year-old boy. The teacher was charged with aggravated sexual abuse.
The people who represent institutions we trust should never abuse their authority in any manner, of course. But when they use that trust to commit sexual abuse, that is especially heinous.
