Even in Maryland, people in positions of authority have used those positions to commit horrible acts of sexual abuse. Teachers, law enforcement officers, and even clergy members have committed child sexual abuse and similar, terrible crimes. If you or someone close to you has been the victim of this kind of abuse, our attorneys may be able to help.

Why Hiring an Attorney is So Important

At Sexual Abuse Claim, our attorneys have a great deal of experience know how to pursue those responsible for your suffering. Our attorneys will hold the priest, or other official, who committed the abuse and work feverishly to hold that person – and any others who may have enabled this behavior or tried to cover it up – accountable.

Examples of Institutional Sexual Abuse in Maryland

The institutions we’ve come to trust over the years should never be sources of terror. Unfortunately, that exact scenario has unfolded many times in Maryland. These are just a few examples.

  • In January 2019, seven alumni of an elite private school in Bethesda reported being sexually abused by a fifth-grade teacher. The victims waited more than 50 years after the alleged acts occurred to report what they experienced. The teacher accused of the childhood sexual abuse died in 2011.
  • In December 2018, the Maryland Province of Jesuits released a list of approximately 30 clergy members who have been accused of committing child sexual abuse since 1950.
  • The head pastor of a Fort Washington church, along with his son (who is a minister at the church) and son-in-law (a member of the church), was arrested in May 2018 and charged with sexually abusing four teenage girls between the ages of 15 and 18. The victims allege they suffered the abuse while participating in a church program designed to help at-risk youth.
